AND, of course, re-blooming means you'll see these big, ruffly beauties not just once, but twice a year! They bloom in late spring and then again in early fall. They'll grow up to 4 feet tall, so they're great in borders and as backdrops. Make sure you plant the rhizomes in well-drained soil, give them lots of sun, and fertilize them after the first set of blooms has faded. Tip: Since irises bloom at different times depending on their size, combine several types together for an even longer blooming period. And, good news: they're deer- and rabbit-resistant!
